I just want to give props to the staff of Golden Age Care Center.  Our family has been going through a tough trial with both Grandpa and Grandma being ill at the same time.  The caregivers at Golden Age treat my Grandpa as if he was part of their very own family.  I prefer him to be home with us and still hope that's a possibility in the future.  Knowing that he is treated so lovingly warms my heart.  Thank you for all you do.

"After my fall,  I never thought I would get to go home again but I was wrong!  Golden Age's therapy program got me up and moving!  When the time came for me to return home, Golden Age's therapy staff did an "in home" evaluation and helped me make my home as safe and easy to get around as possible.  They also assisted me with getting home health set up so that I could have some help during the day and evening getting things done."

Laurie Buckhahn - email

Laurie knew at a very young age she wanted to become a nurse, so after high school she went on to college and became a registered nurse.  She worked many years in the Cath Lab and Cardiac Unit in a hospital in the Quad City area.  Laurie then became certified as a Diabetes Educator and taught many years in teaching Diabetes Self Care. When Laurie's husband decided he wanted to become a pastor the family moved to Southwest Iowa.  This is where Laurie started her career in long-term care.  She worked several years as a Director of Nursing in skilled nursing facilities.  Laurie wanted to do more for the elderly so she went back to school and obtained her Adminitrator's license in long-term care.  This is Laurie's first job as an Administrator.  Her personal goal is to treat everyone like family and make Golden Age the home of choice.

Laurie and her husband live in Corydon, Iowa.  Her 3 grown children live close in the state of Iowa.  Laurie and her husband enjoy riding motorcycles when weather permits.

Laurie wants to remind everyone that she is always available for residents and families.
